A group left Philadelphia’s Irish Center last week to travel back in time, when the Irish left the misery of their home to find new misery in the coal fields of Pennsylvania. Return with them to a miners’ village and the site of the Molly Maguires hangings via our story and photos.

There was a surprise special guest–the Lord Mayor of Cork. We were there too, so we have pictures!

Great music, lots of dancers, plenty of good food … oh, yes, and sunshine.

Three festivals–count them, three–and you can make all of them if you’re really determined. Plus, three of the funniest guys we’ve ever heard–and we’ve heard plenty–are coming from Ireland to Philly on Wednesday. And Eileen Ivers! Did we forget to tell you about Eileen Ivers? What a week!

“The Fellas”–Ardal O’Hanlon, Dylan Moran, and Tommy Tiernan”–will reign at the Troc in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Ardal O’Hanlon took some time to tell us what to expect. (Laughs and lots of them.)

The Ramblers are coming, as is Clannad’s Moya Brennan. Only a few more weeks to see an Irish-themed, Tony-nominated play at the Arden. And there’s a music-filled Irish festival bringing up the end of the week. Read all about it.
