Historic Rebel Band Appears at The Irish Center
On Friday night March 10, the Irish Center presented a rare appearance of the Irish Brigade, the well-known band from Northern Ireland. Still fronted by founding member and songwriter Gerry O’Glacain, the band continued its reputation for high-spirited performance along with superb musicianship. 2023 Pre-Parade Mass at St. Patrick’s Church
Archbishop Nelson Perez celebrated Mass along with parade Chaplain Reverend Kevin Gallagher, honoring Saint Patrick before the parade. The church was filled, with the many friends and family of the Grand Marshal and Ring of Honor. Music and singing was provided by Bishop Shanahan High School and Karen Boyce McCallum and Frank Gallagher.

Members of the Friendly Sons & Daughters of Saint Patrick celebrated in black-tie—and often kilted—style Saturday night, packing the banquet room of the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne. The organization, founded in 1771, promotes Irish culture and education, and has a philanthropic mission. March Proclaimed Irish Month in Philadelphia
At City Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday, there was a wreath laying at the plaque honoring the Friendly Sons and Daughters of St. Patrick, and Irish flag raising. Proclamations were read in the Mayor’s Reception Room by City Council members officially declaring March as Irish Month in the City Of Philadelphia.
